Notes on the Preamble:

The Preamble to the Constitution of India, though not enforceable by law, serves as the guiding light for the interpretation of the Constitution. It expresses the intentions of the framers and outlines the core values upon which the Constitution is based. The Preamble reflects India’s aspirations for **Justice**, **Liberty**, **Equality**, and **Fraternity**.

The Preamble was adopted on **26th November 1949** and came into effect on **26th January 1950**, which is celebrated as **Republic Day**. The 42nd Amendment Act (1976) introduced the terms **”Socialist”**, **”Secular”**, and **”Integrity”**, making the Constitution even more inclusive and broad in its ideological commitment.
