Breaking the Shackles: Bose’s Bold Stand

“Here, we are sharing an inspiring anecdote on Subhash Chandra Bose—an untold story of his bold decision to sacrifice a prestigious career for the nation’s freedom.”

Breaking the Shackles: Bose’s Bold Stand

Subhash Chandra Bose was always known for his unwavering determination and refusal to toe the line of British rule. In 1920, after passing the prestigious Indian Civil Services (ICS) exam with flying colors, he stunned everyone by resigning from the coveted position despite securing a remarkable fourth rank in the ICS examination . While many considered ICS a golden ticket to success, Bose saw it as selling one’s soul to the oppressor.

When questioned about his drastic decision, he replied:

“Serving under British rule is like putting shackles on one’s own feet. If we truly wish to break free, we must take the bull by the horns and fight for our independence.”

This bold move proved that Bose was not one to sit on the fence when it came to the nation’s freedom. Instead, he burned his bridges with the British administration and dedicated his life to India’s liberation, proving that he was indeed a man of his word.
